What does it mean to find balance within a living landscape? Wandering the edible hillsides of BROOMHILL, we explore the relationships between plants, soil, seasons and ourselves. The changing terrain invites us to find our footing, while the edible landscape offers opportunities to observe, taste and discover how nourishment emerges through relationship. An invitation to experience balance not as a fixed state, but as an ongoing movement of adaptation, exchange and reciprocity.
Location: BROOMHILL Duration: 5PM
This Season: Spring brings tender shoots, emerging herbs, wild greens and the first edible flowers. We encounter what is awakening, observe how plants respond to changing conditions and discover what the landscape offers at this particular moment. During the Session: We begin by arriving into the landscape, allowing breath and attention to settle. Moving through the edible hillsides, we pause to observe, smell, touch and taste selected seasonal plants, learning to recognise their qualities and relationships. We return to the gardens to gather around herbal tea, share discoveries and reflect on what the experience has revealed. Shared Learning: Seasonal edible and medicinal plants / Nourishment, diversity and ecological balance / Embodied awareness through movement and sensory exploration / Reciprocity and our participation in the living systems that sustain us. What to bring: Sturdy footwear suitable for uneven hillside terrain, weather-appropriate clothing, drinking water and curiosity. No previous plant knowledge is needed. Tasting is guided, using positively identified edible plants. >>> Contribution: $45 per person — flowing entirely back into the care, cultivation and ongoing stewardship of the whenua.
