The people who hold this place
BROOMHILL began in 2019, when we entered into relationship with
the whenua here in Tāhuna Glenorchy. What began as a place to
grow food and create a home has continued to unfold through the
land itself - through gardens, seasons, people, animals,
weather, learning and the many relationships that have gathered
here. Today BROOMHILL is a living place of stewardship,
nourishment, enquiry and participation. Much of what happens
here has grown through direct experience rather than a
predetermined plan. We tend what is here, notice what is asking
for attention, and allow the work to develop from there.
BROOMHILL continues to take its shape in this way.

For more than two decades, I have lived in close relationship
with food, medicinal plants, seeds and the living world. My work
has grown through listening - to plants, place, seasons, the
body and the quieter forms of knowing that become available
through sustained attention. At BROOMHILL, I hold much of the
connection between land, food, plants and people. I grow and
preserve food, tend seeds and medicines, work with the rhythms
of the whenua, and accompany others into a closer encounter with
nature. Alongside practical knowledge gathered through years of
growing and tending, I carry a deep interest in wholeness,
consciousness and ecology. These are not separate territories
for me. They meet in the garden, in the body and in how we
choose to participate in life. I see myself as both student and
keeper of this wisdom - attentive to what has been known for a
long time, what is revealing itself now, and what may be ours to
carry forward. At BROOMHILL, much of this has found form.

For many years, I have explored the inner dimensions of human
experience through meditation, awareness, relationship and
personal enquiry. My path is grounded in a commitment to
presence - to meeting ourselves, one another and the
circumstances of our lives with greater awareness and integrity.
At BROOMHILL, I bring this human dimension into the wider life
of the place. I hold space for reflection, honest conversation
and deeper enquiry, recognising that how we tend our inner world
and how we relate are also part of how we participate in life.
Alongside my own practice, I work with people through
meditation, life coaching and individual conversations,
supporting the conditions in which greater clarity and
self-understanding can emerge.
