Join us for a morning of practical stewardship in the BROOMHILL gardens.
These mornings follow the living rhythm of the whenua. Rather than arriving with a fixed programme, we meet what is present — tending soil, plants, pathways and growing spaces together.
For those living locally who would like to become part of the ongoing rhythm, our stewardship roster offers a more regular way to participate, with harvest shares offered in return for continuing care.
Location:
BROOMHILL Gardens
Duration:
10am - 1.30pm
This Season:
October carries us properly into spring. Seedlings are moving into the ground, beds are being prepared and replanted, perennial systems are waking, and the garden begins its transition from winter holding into another season of growth.
What needs our hands changes from week to week.
During the Session:
We begin together, look at what is happening in the garden and take up the work that is ready to be done.
Depending on the day, this may include planting, sowing, mulching, composting, tending pathways, working with perennial systems, harvesting or preparing growing spaces for the months ahead.
Shared Learning:
Knowledge is shared through the work itself — observing soil, plants, weather and season, asking questions and learning through participation.
No previous gardening experience is needed.
What to bring:
Come prepared for changeable mountain weather and hands-on garden work. Bring sturdy footwear, suitable layers, sun protection, water and gardening gloves if you have them.
We provide the tools and share something from the garden when the season allows.
